Psychiatrists and nurse practitioners in the Carelon Behavioral Health network
Mugen Psychiatry is in-network with Carelon Behavioral Health for adult psychiatric evaluations and medication management, in person in Oak Brook and by telehealth across Illinois, and is accepting new patients.
Care at Mugen Psychiatry is provided by psychiatrists board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and psychiatric nurse practitioners board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), in a physician-led practice.
We are a physician-founded practice centered on continuity and focusing on your individual needs. Your benefits are verified before scheduling your first appointment.

What Carelon covers at Mugen
Under Carelon, care with us typically includes a thorough psychiatric evaluation, ongoing medication management, and follow-up visits, in person at our Oak Brook office in DuPage County or by secure video anywhere in Illinois, including Chicago and Cook County. Our team verifies your benefits by phone before your first visit.
Psychiatric evaluation
A thorough first visit to understand your history, what you're experiencing now, and your goals, then a plan built together.
Medication management
Individualized medication management reviewed and adjusted with you over time to align with your goals.
Telehealth across Illinois
Most care can be delivered by secure video anywhere in Illinois, with in-person visits at our Oak Brook office.
We treat ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and OCD under Carelon-administered plans. Care is provided by our board-certified psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, both in network under this plan.
What Carelon members should know
Carelon Behavioral Health, formerly Beacon Health Options, is Elevance Health’s behavioral health company, and it operates differently from the other names on our insurance list: Carelon does not sell plans to individuals. It administers mental health benefits on behalf of health plans and employers. Members carry their own plan’s card, and the behavioral health number on the back may route to Carelon without the name ever appearing on the card itself.
Mugen participates in the Carelon Behavioral Health network, so if your plan’s mental health benefits are Carelon-administered, psychiatric care here is covered: evaluation, medication management, and follow-up visits, in Oak Brook or by video across Illinois. Certainty is not required before reaching out: send us the details from your card and our office determines where your behavioral health benefits are held. The behavioral health number on your own plan’s card, and carelonbehavioralhealth.com, are the direct sources for your benefit specifics.
If you are unsure who administers your mental health benefits, the insurance hub, Reach out today, is the place to begin; the benefits check performs the tracing.
