What County Care members should know

County Care is Cook County Health’s Medicaid plan, serving members in Chicago and across Cook County through the county’s own health system. If your card says County Care, psychiatric care at Mugen is covered under the plan you already have: a complete evaluation, ongoing medication management, and follow-up visits, in person at our Oak Brook office or by video anywhere in Illinois.

Two answers from your member handbook are worth knowing before you call. First, cost: County Care members have no copays for medical care or prescription drugs, so covered psychiatric visits cost you nothing out of pocket. Second, access: no referral is required for mental health treatment with an in-network provider, which means you may contact us directly.

Our office verifies your County Care coverage before anything is scheduled, and for the details of your own benefits the most reliable source is the plan itself: County Care member services at 312-864-8200, or countycare.com. Coming to Mugen changes nothing else about your care. Your primary care, your pharmacy, and your County Care benefits remain exactly as they are.

Not your plan? Illinois Medicaid is carried by four networks we accept: Molina Healthcare, Blue Cross Community Health Plans and Aetna Better Health each link to their own page. If you are not certain which plan is on your card, How Medicaid works at Mugen links to /medicaid.

Two resources answer what comes up most on this plan: does Illinois Medicaid cover psychiatrist visits, and what a visit costs. If a referral is the question, we go plan by plan.

Can I see a County Care psychiatric provider by telehealth?

Yes. Most care, including evaluations and medication management, can be delivered by secure video anywhere in Illinois, with in-person visits available at our Oak Brook office.

Will my care be consistent at every visit?

Yes. We follow standardized psychiatric clinical practice, so you receive the same standard of care at every visit.

Where is your office located?

Our office is at 600 W 22nd St, Suite 260, Oak Brook, IL 60523, in DuPage County. We serve Chicago and Cook County in person and all of Illinois by secure telehealth.

Do I need a referral to see a psychiatrist with County Care?

No. Your member handbook states that no referral is needed for mental health or substance use treatment with an in-network provider. You are welcome to contact us directly.

What will a visit cost me?

County Care members have no copays for covered medical care, per the member handbook. For the specifics of your own coverage, County Care member services at 312-864-8200 or countycare.com can review your benefits directly.

Is County Care the same as the medical card?

County Care is one of the health plans that administers the Illinois medical card under HealthChoice Illinois. If your medical card lists County Care, this page applies to you; if it lists another plan, we very likely accept that one as well.
