Mugen Psychiatry was founded to bring clarity, consistency, and compassion to mental health care. We work alongside patients, clinicians, and facilities to deliver evidence-based psychiatric services that support real people, in real life.

“Mugen” (無限), meaning limitless, captures our commitment to delivering exceptional, accessible psychiatric care that helps people move past barriers and thrive.
/ˈour mission/

At Mugen Psychiatry, our mission is simple: to deliver high-quality, dependable mental health care that helps people recognize and reach their fullest potential. Mugen was founded by Dr. Alan Akira and began as a moonlighting service, created to make sure hospitals and facilities had reliable psychiatric support during the hours when patients needed it most.

Our moon logo is a nod to those beginnings — a reminder of the late-night coverage that shaped our commitment to being available whenever care is needed. What started as after-hours support has since grown into a comprehensive behavioral health group serving inpatient psychiatric units, specialized mental health rehabilitation programs, and soon expanding into outpatient and telepsychiatry services.
We believe mental health care should be accessible, trustworthy, and truly patient-centered. Through strong partnerships, dedicated clinicians, and a focus on evidence-based care, we’re working every day to make high-quality treatment easier to reach.

There was support available for both clinical and administrative concerns. It was really nice to gain experience working in a non-academic system."
